S.O.H.L.S. Night-time Investigation Report:

The Registry Theatre (Kitchener)

On Wednesday August 29/07, The Southwestern Ontario Hauntings and Research Society (at that time known as the Kitchener Paranormal Investigators or "K.P.I.") gathered at The Registry Theatre for an overnight investigation. The headcount for the evening was 18 people, 5 were associated with the Theatre.

K.P.I. arrived around 7:00PM and set up for the night. Two motion detectors were set up in the main theatre section, one on stage and one behind the seating section of the theatre. A night vision security camera was also set up to record any movement in the Theatre.

A blessing was said, which was followed by a tour of the Theatre. The investigators then split into smaller groups to investigate the different areas of the building.

As the night began, members in each of the groups began to notice paranormal activity. Orbs were recorded on digital cameras, one member heard tapping on the EVP listener for five minutes straight in the back of the Workshop area (it should be noted that the tapping could only be heard on the EVP listener) and other members felt the presence of spirits in the Theatre.

Connections to spirits were made in the Boiler Room, both Washrooms, Workshop, Green and Yellow rooms, Lockup and around the Stage and Seating Area of the Theatre. The group had a medium present and were able to send two spirits into the light. The medium was also able to communicate with the spirits. The group was able to speak with a number of spirits who made their presence known through her:

A worker named Harold, who worked in the Registry as a Clerk.

John, an actor who was waiting in perpetuity to be called up on stage (It should be noted that John was sent into the light.)

Walter, a person who designed stage sets

Harold's boss

An older woman in the handicapped stall in the women's washroom

A gentleman in the men's washroom

During the investigation, some of the members of K.P.I. were experiencing some problems with their equipment. Batteries that were fully charged were suddenly drained, a camcorder was not focusing properly (the camcorder was in working order immediately prior the investigation) and the motion detector that was on the stage was being affected by the spirits. According to the medium, the spirits thought that it would be amusing to turn the detector on and off. The spirits then turned off the detector because of its loud buzzer. (Note: to turn off and/or reset the motion detector, one needs to use the hand-held remote). The person in charge of the detector did not have anything pressed against the remote.

When one group was in the boiler room, they experienced uneasy feelings while in the room. The boiler room has contains main conduits and the high electromagnetic frequencies (EMF's) produced can make one feel uncomfortable/uneasy. The room is also small and if one is claustrophobic, this will heighten one's anxiety levels. All electrical appliances emit an EMF. It will register on an EMF meter. It could be something as simple as an electronic clock or a fridge. If you are in a room where there are main conduits, then the emissions of EMF's may cause one to feel uneasy about the room they are in.

Table tipping was attempted twice by the group in front of the stage area. The first time, members noticed that there was a vibration through the table. Nothing occurred during the second attempt. Members present also felt that the table used may have been too heavy to facilitate movement.

The spirits enjoyed the group's singing attempts. It should be noted that when the singing occurred, a pair of dowsing rods began moving on their own.

The investigation ended around 3:00AM on August 30/07. The remainder of the group cleaned up and went home. Everyone enjoyed themselves that night!
